Ok, so what’s with this new Soma name?

With the continued growth of our Leadership Development Program, the demand for CIT reached a point that we were unable to handle. We didn't want to limit the program anymore than it already was so in 2008 we designed the CIT level differently to include other ministry areas (food service and maintenance) and also implemented a rotation system in which not all CIT’s would be in a cabin every week. This worked extremely well so we’ve decided to expand it even more.

The name “CIT” just no longer fit, as all participants were not Counselors in Training, therefore, a change was needed. Soma is the Greek work for “body.” The scripture passage I Corinthians 12:12-31 provides a great picture of what these students will be doing - serving the Lord with their varied gifts they have been blessed with. Besides, our overall goal for the program is to build servants of Christ, not NLR counselors. Thus, the name change.
