The staff of New Life Ranch and the Flint & Steel Trail Run are committed to the safety and wellbeing of all guests. Because of this, the trail run may look a little different this year. Please familiarize yourself with the following expectations and protocols for our 2020 trail run in order to ensure a great experience for all runners and volunteers. You can find those protocols here:
1 Mile Fun Run = 1 Mile (obviously)
5 kilometers = 3.1 miles
10 kilometers = 6.2 miles
25 kilometers = 15.5 miles
Note that for trail races, due to an inability to lengthen and shorten trails, races can sometimes be a little bit more or (once in a rare while) a little bit less than the advertised distance. We work hard at hitting the minimum distance stated.
You won’t be out of place at all. These races are planned for participants of all abilities — including walkers/hikers. The course closes at 1:00pm, so choose which route you would like to walk/hike accordingly.
Yes, but we don’t recommend it. Please keep the volume down at a safe level so that you can hear other runners, encroaching sasquach, other wildlife or instructions from race staff. We also ask that you remove them, or, at the very least, remove one earbud when you are coming to aid stations, in a large crowd or on more technical or difficult sections of the course. The important thing is paying attention to everyone’s safety and maintaining basic race etiquette with other runners.
For the 2020 race, there will be no day-of registration due to extra protocols in place to ensure maximum health and safety of our runners and staff. Registration for all routes closes at 6pm CT on Friday, Dec. 4th..
Yes, we will have results and awards for age group finishers.
There will be a packet pick up at New Life Ranch until 9:00am – 7:00pm the day before the race and starting at 6:00am on race day. Early arrival on the race day is strongly recommended, allow 20-30 minutes extra time for lines.
The courses all close at 1pm.
Unfortunately no. As much as we love dogs and running with our own, not everyone is comfortable being around dogs (even if leashed) and for reasons of safety (for those with two legs and four) we ask runners not to bring their dogs along for the race.
No. The race will be held, rain or shine. Courses may be modified to account for weather conditions.
No. The purpose of this run is to help raise funds for the New Life Ranch scholarship fund. Each year, over $500,000 is given away as camper scholarships and this race will help with that effort. Thank you for your help getting kids to camp!
