Training & Certifications

Staff training is a formal two-week intensive that includes:

• Level 1 Ropes Certification
• Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
• 3-Day Backpacking Trip
• Staff Expectations
• Professionalism 101

Networking

Creating opportunities to connect with organizations:

• We will set up networking days during the year for the team to go tour ministries and organizations in the area, giving them an opportunity to network with ministries nearby.

Reflection process:

• What did you like about this organization? What did you not like?
• Of the organizations that presented, choose three to send a follow-up email to establish a connection.

Weekly Meetings

• Check-in
• Debrief the previous week and share expectations about the week ahead
• Share prayer requests and pray for incoming groups

Monthly In-Service

• A 2-hour session where we learn about personal development or practical skills
• Nine total sessions, six planned by us. Our team members plan the last three.

Living Spaces

• Housing provided on site
• Clear expectation on what is allowed in housing (e.g. no pets or alcohol)
• Monthly check-ins for cleanliness or maintenance issues

Twice Per Month Check-Ins

• The guest services team will make sure and meet with each staffer at least twice per month to check in and see how they are doing and set and maintain goals.

Community Events

• Once a month social gathering sponsored by NLR
• An opportunity to relax and unwind with the team

Fall Scheduling

• 8 Full-time SERVE members
• Five days on, two days off
• Never work more than seven consecutive days without an off day
• One full weekend off a month
• One weekend of hosting per month minimum

• $900-$1000 (depending on experience) monthly salary before tax
• Eligible for support-raising
• 5 vacation days total
• No healthcare provided
• Housing, Utilities, & Internet fully covered
• Can eat in the dining hall when there are groups on site
