The Flint & Steel Trail Run spans the diverse trails over the 1000 acres on the New Life Ranch Flint Valley property. Casual runners will enjoy the scenic views of the 5k course, while competitive runners will no doubt relish the opportunity to tackle a tough 10k, and an incredibly challenging 25k.
The race name comes from the primitive skill of fire building using a flint rock and a piece of forged steel to create a spark. This skill is a challenge, there’s friction involved, and sometimes some blood! The goal of using a flint rock and a piece of steel isn’t just about learning to make sparks. It’s about catching the spark and turning it into a sustainable fire. This great metaphor describes the mission of New Life Ranch. The mission isn’t just about having fun, it’s about seeing sustainable change happen in people’s lives.
All proceeds from this run will go to support the Mission 19:14 Camper Scholarship Fund, which ensures that every kid has the chance to come to camp and hear about the love of Jesus, regardless of their financial situation!
If you are looking for a super-fast, flat, easy course to set a personal record, you are probably in the wrong place. These courses have hills, rocks and tree roots. It’s technical yet, is quick in places. If, however, you are looking for a great time on the camp trails, with beautiful scenery, awesome support and quality shirts and awards, and want to be part of something new, you have come to the right place!
Hikers/walkers are welcome!
